  11. Web Enabler is the software product that allows developers to
  12. turn their Web sites into public touchscreen kiosk applications.
  13.  
  14. The program functions as an overlay to Microsoft Internet
  15. Explorer or Netscape Navigator. Support of standard browsers
  16. means you can use all the latest browser features like Java,
  17. ActiveX, ShockWave and animated GIF's.
  18.  
  19. Web Enabler's large finger-size buttons line a frame around
  20. the browser making it usable by anyone that steps up to the
  21. screen. You define what happens when the user presses these
  22. buttons. Among other functions, you can load web pages, change
  23. the button sets, perform browser functions, or launch other
  24. full screen programs.

  26. With Web Enabler you don't have to be a programmer to create
  27. a custom touchscreen-based multimedia kiosk. You can build
  28. interactive kiosk applications using standard web page
  29. development tools, without the need for proprietary multimedia
  30. applications or developing your own multimedia engines.

  32. Web Enabler works with "live" content using internet/intranet
  33. connections with local content on the hard drive or a
  34. combination of both.
  35.  
  36. When connected "live" to the internet Web Enabler restricts
  37. access to only the sites and web pages you specify.
  38.  
  39. Define an attract loop to draw users to your kiosk.
  40.  
  41. Record all user interaction with the kiosk to identify trends
  42. in customer usage.

  46. application up and running quickly.

  51. Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 for Windows (32-bit) is included for
  52. your convenience in the \ACROBAT directory. The free Adobe
  53. Acrobat Reader allows you to view, navigate, and print PDF
  54. files.

  58.                     Web Enabler Requirements
  59. ----------------------------------------------------------------

  61. * 133Mhz Pentium processor system with 12-16MB RAM running
  62.   Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0. 16-24MB RAM is
  63.   recommended if you intend to launch other applications from
  64.   Web Enabler. 10MB of free hard disk space is required.
  65.  
  66. * Your video mode must be set to 800x600 pixel resolution with
  67.   16-bit color. 24-bit color is may cause slower browser
  68.   performance and 256-color (8-bit) causes unattractive color
  69.   palette shifts. Web Enabler does not run at resolutions other
  70.   than 800x600.
  71.  
  72. * Version 3.0 or later of either Microsoft Internet Explorer or
  73.   Netscape Navigator. The browser must be completely installed
  74.   and working correctly before Web Enabler installation.

  78.                     Installing Web Enabler

  81. 1.  Start your computer.
  82.  
  83. 2.  Insert the Web Enabler CD into your CD-ROM drive. If
  84.     AutoPlay is enabled on your CD-ROM drive a list of options
  85.     is displayed. Choose Install Web Enabler from the list. Skip
  86.     to step 5 below.

  88. 3.  Choose the Start button, and then select Run.
  89.  
  90. 4.  Type "d:\setup" in the space provided (where D: is your
  91.     CD-ROM drive letter) and press Enter.

  93. 5.  Follow the directions on the screen.

  97.           Two Things You Gotta Know About Web Enabler
  98. ----------------------------------------------------------------

  100. How to Exit Web Enabler:   Double-click with a mouse or
  101. ========================   touchscreen in the top left hand
  102.                            corner of the screen, then
  103.                            double-click the top right corner of
  104.                            the screen, and then double-click the
  105.                            top left hand corner again. Repeat
  106.                            this sequence if it doesn't
  107.                            work the first time.

  109. How to Enter Design Mode:  Use the mouse to right-click one of
  110. =========================  the buttons on the Web Enabler frame.

  117. Web Enabler has been tested for proper operation on computer
  118. systems with system dates set for times including and beyond
  119. 12:00 a.m., Saturday, January 1, 2000 A.D.

  126. * Install and test Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet
  127.   Explorer before installing Web Enabler.

  129. * If you want to make Setup Mode modifications and access
  130.   "live" URLs, connect to the internet before starting Web
  131.   Enabler.

  133. * A known problem exists when Web Enabler is used with Microsoft
  134.   Internet Explorer (IE). The IE "Open URL" dialog will
  135.   occasionally flash on the screen instead of the requested URL.
  136.   A second button press should correctly display the URL.

  173. In addition to containing Web Enabler installation files, this
  174. CD contains the MonitorMouse drivers for Elo Touchscreens. The
  175. drivers are located in the \MONMOUSE directory.

  177. Included are drivers for Windows 95, Windows NT, DOS & Windows
  178. 3.1, and OS/2 Warp. The manuals for these drivers in Adobe
  179. Acrobat PDF format are located in the \DOCS\TOUCH directory.

  182. and AccuTouch User's Guides in Adobe Acrobat PDF format.
